Reporting to the Leader, Building Automation, you will complete the installation, upgrades, and day-to-day
operation of building automation systems. Primary duties include:
• Layout the installation of the building automation system based on the supplies project blueprints and
equipment supplies.
• Order and pick up electrical material required to complete the installation of the building automation
system.
• Review and resolve installation issues as they arise.
• Participate in site project meetings regarding the building automation system.
• Supervises sub-contractors and coordinate the work of Automation Technicians and Electricians.
• Participate in final commissioning and functional testing of the building automation system installation.
• Complete labelling of installed devices and the writing associated.
• Produce as-built drawings of the building automation system installation.
• Respond to day-to-day work orders.
• Assist the Building Automation Technicians in resolving electrical issues and troubleshooting defective
devices.
• Replace and upgrade building automation system devices.
• Test, calibrate, replace and upgrade control system devices and components.
Qualifications
• A completed 2 year diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, and eligibility for registration as a
Technologist with the Association of Science and Engineering Technology Professionals of Alberta
(A.S.E.T.) and at least 5 years of related technical experience with automation systems OR;
• A Journeyperson Electrician Certificate and at least 8 years of technical experience with automation
systems.
• Knowledge of major building automation systems (such as Honeywell or Siemens) and commercial
building system controls and heating ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) systems is required.
• Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) is required.
• A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits, and no current
charges or suspensions pending is required.
• Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit
• A Red Seal ticket will be considered an asset.
Working Conditions: This position involves exposure to weather, dust, vibration, electrical hazards and
confined spaces.

Compensation: $61.53 per hour
Hours of work: Non-Standard 40 hour work week.
