The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers is holding a contest leading up to the 38th International Convention in Vancouver, British Columbia in September 2011 to showcase the talents of our Members outside the workplace.

The contest is open to IBEW Members in good standing. In the case of a band or other multi-person act, at least one person playing a major role must be an IBEW Member in good standing. Professional acts are not eligible, with professional being defined as those who make their primary living from their act. However, IBEW Members who make side income from their talent are eligible.

Members interested in competing must submit a video of their act to the International Office. The acts will be vetted to confirm membership status and reviewed for objectionable material. The top videos from each District will be shown at the respective 2011 Progress Meetings. Attending delegates will vote to determine the top performance, and the winner will represent their respective district at the IBEW Has Talent Competition in Vancouver.

District winners will compete live during the Saturday Convention Gala on September 21, 2011. Three finalists will be selected to perform at the evening affair, and a winner will be chosen by the attendees at the end of the event.

The International Office will provide each winning act with hotel accommodations for four nights in Vancouver. Each act will be solely responsible for all other travel expenses.

This event is intended to promote friendly competition between the districts, and in the end, solidarity and pride among the Members.
