Journeyman Powerline Technician

Job Brief

The Electric Utility Department has a permanent career opportunity for a qualified Journeyman Power Line Technician.

WAGE:                $54.88 per hour

DUTIES:

Under the direction of a crew leadhand you will perform the following duties related to the Electric System:

  • Construct, maintain, and operate underground and overhead facilities in the distribution system

  • Provide support to apprentices and fellow journeyman crew members as required

  • Provide leadership in the creation and maintenance of a safe work site

  • Provide timely and courteous service to customers

  • Work in all types of adverse weather conditions

  • Required to participate in regular standby rotation for after hour emergencies

  • Required to reside within 30 kilometre radius of the City of Lethbridge

  • Work overtime as required in response to electrical emergencies

QUALIFICATIONS:

Ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Journeyman Power Lineman Certificate with Red Seal

  • Excellent knowledge of the principles involved in the construction, operation, and maintenance of the distribution system

  • Qualified to perform live line work on underground and overhead facilities

  • Qualified to perform live line rubber glove work on 13.8 KV overhead facilities

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety while working in the field

  • Computer skills will include working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and the computerize time ticket/SRO system

  • Must possess a valid class 3Q driver’s license

  • Willing to upgrade other qualifications as required
