IBEW 254 is made up of nine Local Union Units located at various locations throughout the province. Members in these Units come from 16 collective bargaining groups representing a variety of industries. We have utility distribution and transmission, electrical generation, maintenance in municipalities, school boards, entertainment and trade shows. We also have public safety communications, water plant operations, sign companies and appliance repair. Each of the nine Units holds a monthly Unit Meeting and in addition the Executive Board of Local 254 meets once a month.
Local Union 254 Office Staff is proudly represented by Canadian Office and Professional Employees Union Local 397.
The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers is the oldest electrical union in North America formed in1891 by ten men dedicated to improving the lives of all electrical workers. From the start, our objective has been to build a strong and effective union by increasing unity among workers throughout the electrical and related industries. We are proud of the progress we have made, and are dedicated to serving our membership effectively in the future.
The IBEW is a democratic organization and our continued effectiveness depends upon the active participation of our Members. We are a union of “Hearts and Minds”, actively involved in community service, in addition to the normal, well understood traditional role of a labour organization pursuing prosperity for our Members. Our Local Union is only as strong as the collective strength of its membership. The old adage is so very true: “THERE IS STRENGTH IN NUMBERS” and our Local Union will be a reflection of your attitude towards the organization. With your support and participation in the affairs of the Local Union, we will have a stronger, more effective Union.
IBEW Local 254 encourages its Members to be advocates for economic and political empowerment, and social justice within their workplaces and communities.
